Foundation Art & Design is an exciting one year 'diagnostic' programme of study aimed at preparing students who wish to pursue a Higher Education (HE) course in Art & Design at university or college and is concerned with the identification (diagnosis) of their abilities, skills and potential.
The course aims to facilitate and support students developing their critical independence and give a fuller understanding of specialist art and design pathways so each student and their family can make an informed decision about progression to a suitable degree course.
Foundation Art & Design is characterised by;
...whilst relying upon the repetition of manual skills and recognising the potential value of chance and the unexpected.
Drawing and Historical & Contextual Studies are key components of the programme of study, and students have access to specialist studios including; printmaking, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, sculpture, three-dimensional design, graphic design and painting.
The course is taught by a team of experienced and qualified staff in various fields of art and design; they hold degrees and post graduate qualifications including Master's and PHD's. Many maintain their own practice and show/sell their work regionally, nationally and internationally
The course is offered at Banbury and Oxford Campuses. Please contact the respective Course Leader for more details.
