Course Description

If you’re passionate about joining the next generation of visual artists who use photography in their work, then Fine Art — Photography is for you.

The course brings out the best in your creative potential, providing you with the technical knowledge and conceptual tools necessary to develop your projects.

It embraces all photographic styles as a means of artistic expression, from staged studio shoots to documentary and gallery installation. Working in extensive facilities with dedicated technicians, you’ll learn to use both traditional and digital photographic equipment and processes to realise your ideas.

Regular individual tutorials and group seminars encourage analysis and selfreflection, and support the development of your personal practice inspired by the history and theories of photography and fine art.

You will be taught by distinguished staff who cover a wide range of skills and professional experience, including Turner Prize nominee Richard Billingham.

An exciting programme of national and international study visits provide a unique opportunity for you to engage with a wide range of contemporary art.

And a strong emphasis on work placements and range of exhibition opportunities will help you realise career ambitions as artists and in creative industries.

Full-time entry requirements

Minimum of 5 GCSE passes at grade C or above, or equivalent.
You will normally have completed a foundation course in Art & Design, or BTEC General Art & Design course, or Advanced VCE, or Access to Art & Design.
Entry is by interview and portfolio and you will be selected on the basis of ability, enthusiasm and commitment to your chosen specialism.
Points for Degree: 260 points using the UCAS Tariff.
